Liz missed the "Coffee and Philanthropy" session, so we dropped by the Coffeekids booth, and Bill very kindly gave her the quick version. Bill feels the coffee industry as a whole is malconstructed, and is essentially designed in a way to perpetuate poverty among coffee producers. While encouraging us to support organizations that help people in the "here and now" he also emphasizes that we need to work towards a fundamental restructuring of the industry in the long term.
